About our school

School ethos

Our time-proven education program builds your professionalism

Nomata Academy was founded in 1938 by Sadao Nomata. Now we have different schools, from kindergartens to post-secondary education institutions, and we are one of the leading academy in Hokkaido and in the Tohoku region.

Our objective is to train people so they can be fully and immediately operational at work. We give our students a solid knowledge, allowing them to be confident in their work environment, to pursue their dreams and to follow their own path. We help our students to acquire basic personal skills, basic professional skills and knowledge. We help them to follow their path toward self-realization, while being confident and proud of them.

We provide a learning environment where students learn to keep in mind the keywords of our school: gratitude, cultivation of common sense and acting up to one’s principles. Through cuisine, confectionery and hygiene classes, we aim to train artisans, talents who will be able to contribute to the development of their region food culture.

Our view on education

Our school has three principles: gratitude, cultivation of common sense and acting up to one’s principles. Knowledge, compassion and awareness are the basis of the education we provide, to train talents who will be able to contribute to the development of their region food culture.

Facilities

In April 2016, our new building opened, offering our students spaces where they can practice in a comfortable environment, with the latest cookware. The classrooms for the cooking, confectionery and hygiene classes are bright new. We also opened a new seminar room where students can learn about Japanese culture in the cooking, confectionery and hygiene fields. We are fully equipped to provide a professional environment where students can learn about the world-famous Japanese food culture.

With our new school building, spreading food culture is easier than ever!

With our new seminar room dedicated to food culture, our goal is to deepen our relations with the people who are involved in the region.

1Educating professionals who will be active in the world

What you will learn in the seminar room dedicated to food culture will help you to offer the best Japanese culinary experiences to guests coming from abroad. It will also help you if you decide to go abroad, to allow foreigners to enjoy Japanese cuisine.

2A greater collaboration with local producers and businesses

With special lectures, menu creation and degustation, organized in collaboration with local producers, we aim to train professionals who can contribute to their region.

3With the collaboration of Hirosaki University Institute of Food Sciences, let’s connect Hokkaido and the Tohoku region!

Efforts will be made to develop Hokkaido and the Tohoku region through farming, fishing, processing industries and tourism.
